Closed Caption troubles

I have a HTPC with 3 PVR-250 cards and 128 meg ATI Radeon 9800 Pro video card. I'm using Sage 5.04 with the NVIdia decoders that came with TheaterTek. I'm using the 3.2 gig per hour DVD compatible recording quality. I've set the CC_Option_Enabled`property to TRUE. The captions option does show up in the Recordings Option Menu. But the Closed Captions dont display on my TV when viewing TV through Sage . When I view TV through directly from the cable they do show up. What could be the problem?

Check the list of conditions in Appendix K in the PDF manual (p. 253 for v5), particularly the last item about using Overlay. Also, the property is cc_option_enabled=true -- note that it is lower case, not upper case as you posted it. You may also need to try a different decoder.

In addition, are you using Overlay? Closed Captions will only work with VMR...

If using Overlay,I think you just have to turn off Overlay Color Keying, like the Appendix mentions.

Forgot about that...

He will lose any menu transparancies though... right?

Yes, with overlay + color keying off, there would be no pseudo-transparency.
