You might try an earlier version of Java. 1.5.0_06 has had problems in Sage in other threads. Specifically this one and this one. Sage currently has 1.4.2_12 included.

Same problem

I am having the same problem as posted earlier, the same error message is generated in the err log, I am running stock stvs brand new installs of OS and SageTV server and client. The server runs without a problem but the client continually crashes during playback. Usually I have to reboot the client to get sage to run again. I have not updated Java, using the default version that comes with sage. Any ideas?

I have had the same problem for a long time and finally made an effort to collect debugging information for support, but it seems that all I can get is stacktraces, none of them alike as far as I can tell.

When I installed 5.0.4 a while ago I did remove the jvm I was using (1.5) and let Sage install the java. Didn't make any difference. Same behaviour. In my case, the client crashes randomly when I either stop playback or delete the show after playback.

I don't recall any of my three other clients ever crashing

I havent had any problems until I upgraded to the latest version of Sage. Thats why I tried reinstalling the OS, I thought there was some interaction between an installed program and sage which was causing the problems. But from what I have seen the Server side works fine. No problems or crashes. The only problem I have is on the client side. I am attaching all 4 error logs I have, hopefully something comes of it.

I'm afraid we might actually have to submit a bug report
On the other hand, somebody ought to have done that already.

I was about to submit a bug report, but then I decided to try and upgrade Java to test that out. After I upgraded Java no problems. Its been running for 3 days now with no crashes. Before when I tried and update Java that wouldnt change my crashing. I am not quite sure what was different this time.
