Running as service - client does not connect?
I am using the trial of 5.0.4, I want to run SageTv as a service and not use the UI - as stated on pg16 of the manual. When I attemp this the service starts fine, but the client will not connect it asks for the IP address - with or witout the UI started. I have to disable the service for the client to connect.
Edit: I am using MCE 2005 as an OS with all services disabled and processes ended. I ultimately want to run Sage on my server with 2 dual tunners but no UI running - is this possable? TIA -Skybolt |

If the client can connect in non-service mode, but not in service mode, then the first thing to check would be to make sure the service is allowed through your firewall. (SageTVService.exe)
You don't really need to run the UI at all on the server PC if using service mode... well, maybe it would help to use it for the initial configuration. - Andy

Thanks Opus4.
Unblocking the service did the trick. I thought that since while the UI was running everything worked, that the exceptins were good. Tanks again. Now it's license time! -Skybolt |
