Stargate SG-1 ending?

This may be the final season for SG-1 (CNN article): Sci Fi closes 'Stargate SG-1'.

Maybe they'll have to pull out a last-second victory against their current foes... isn't that called a "Star Trek" ending? In the last couple minutes of a show: "Cast memeber flips switch. The antagonist is vanquished and everyone recovers from radiation side effects. Cue closing humorous comment. Roll credits"

It says the show was on Showtime for the first 5 years & that Showtime was demanding full-frontal nudity... I'm not sure I really want to know who might have been affected by that decree...

Dad will be disappointed. It's one of his favorites. Wonder how long Atlantis will last.

That's one thing I thought was strange in the article -- it mentions Atlantis being more popular. I watch Atlantis, but it seems more like a "wannabe" spinoff to me & I watch it more out of habit than anything else. They seem to be crossing some of the characters with aspects of SG-1 along with the whiny parts from older shows like Lost in Space or Land of the Giants (or whatever the name of that one was).

Oh well... I guess I'm not a good judge of shows, since the new ones I like often get cancelled right away.

I typically try not to pay attention to "The Critics" since they usually proclaim to watch things for content whereas I just want to be entertained w/o too much Hollywood "Creative License."
