Imported Video - playback errors without reason
I have a large supermicro server with 4 x 500 GB drives for movie storage running Windows XP on a seperate drive. Each drive is setup as a seperate share . In setup, I mapped each drive as a UNC path, i.e., \\movieserver\movie1.
Each drive has genre folders, the same structure on each drive. I put all the movies in genre folders as 400 movies in one list would have been impossible to navigate. In testing from a client machine, I get a playback error when I change Genre folders. When I go back and select the movie again, it plays fine. This happens repeatedly. Sine there is nothing wrong with the movie files and selecting other movies in the same Genre folder works fine, I can only assume it is a software bug. Does anyone have a solution or can anyone confirm this problem? |

How are the drives shared? Does the same user exist on both machines? Is it a limited account or admin? Are any of the folders marked read only? What speed are the network connections? Does it act any differently if you map a drive letter instead of UNC?

>How are the drives shared?
I just created a share named MOVIEn >Does the same user exist on both machines? Yes - it is not a permissions problem, the movie plays the second time. >Is it a limited account or admin? Admin >Are any of the folders marked read only? No >What speed are the network connections? 1Gb/s on the server, 100Mbs/s on the client >Does it act any differently if you map a drive letter instead of UNC? Haven't tried that. Will test. |
