FEATURE REQ: per-channel Intelligent Recording attributes
The one thing that's bugged me for a long time about SageTV is that the Intelligent Recording feature is either "on" or "off". This means that every channel (if enabled) is involved -- and sometimes this is really undesirable in a few cases:
* I'd like to leave a couple special interest channels and local cable-access channels enabled, without them ever being picked up by IR at all. That way they can stay in the Program Guide, participate in Favorites auto-recording, and generally be available for all other SageTV functions. * There are a couple channels which air regular programs I would like to see (and other programs that IR could pick up via its algorithms), but which also air lots of broadcast/cable-edited movies. I *loathe* movies edited for non-premium networks, and I'd like to avoid them being picked up from those channels, without having to avoid the channel or turn off IR. Until now, I've had to bend over backwards for these cases, mainly by turning the affected channels off completely in SageTV and watching them live via straight pass-through RF cable. That does mean, of course, that Sage cannot record or timeshift those programs, which is quite a pain. What I'd like to see is a per-channel attribute that allows the user to control what the Intelligent Recording feature is allowed to do with each channel (not affecting Favorites, because those should be picked up anyway outside of the IR feature). For me, the needed options would be: Use Intelligent Recording for... 1. All programs 2. All except Movies 3. No programs Alternatively, this could be a multi-item selection (e.g. checkboxes), such as: Use Intelligent Recording for... * Movies * Sports * News * All others |
