NO!!! say it isn't so!!! i'm so shocked by this i just don't know what to do... a "dishonest" tv service. horrors. </sarcasm>

Anyhow, this is definitely common practice on Comcast and Charter SD. Compression artifacts are readily visible on analog and digital channels. FWIW, I've never been fortunate to view any HD content.
