List of working Directv by serial receivers??

Is there a list of directv receivers that change the channel by serial connection/usb? I asked the question in the beta thread that announced the new directv dll but got nothing. So--can you all chime in and let me know what you are using?
Thanks,
JUC

I'm using a Hughes HIRD-E4, and have no problems. It uses a db9 serial null-modem cable.

Did you check out these links?

I believe if you do a search for serial control Tivo etc you can find some hits. I believe if it says it works with serial/AGP it will work with Sage.

Or look around here, I believe this works for various apps not just replay, I would e-mail them.

Hi,

I am still using a couple of ancient Sony SAT-A2 DTV receivers. They go into a 500mce via Svid and stereo. Serial control works great with the previous directv .dll. Last time I looked these could still be found dirt cheap on ebay.

Because these will not receive the new, lower channel numbered LIL's (but will still receive the higher channel numbered LIL's) you need to make sure they still offer the higher numbered LIL's in your market.

These tuners will change channels much faster than a D10-100 and will work with a standard serial cable. There is also no chance for Directv to disable your serial control with the Sonys since they can not perform any remote "updates" on them.

HTH

Thanks--that's partly my problem...I can only receive my locals through the lower channels -below 100 and they are not offered in the higher ones. I have a Sony Sat b4 (or B3?) that works great with serial but doesn't tune to these lower numbers.

I use a very old RCA DRD435RH with no issues. No idea what you're talking about with these high/low #s - i can check if you care.

I have used a bunch of different boxes and am most happy with my D10-100s. The Sony Sat-B3 boxes I had were unreliable and I was used to the locals being 2-11 and didn't like having to tune to channel 8** to get them. The Mitsubishi box I had worked but I couldn't disable the receiver OSD. Once I popped the D10s in there and got the OSD disabled I was in heaven. I see no difference in channel change speeds between them - they are all pretty quick - well as far as DTV boxes go anyway.

Use the Directv Control app. Click the "Hide" button, and no more OSD. It resets if you power down or lose power to the STB though.

Yep, AngelofDeth is right, just stop sage and open the dtvcontrol utility and click on hide to disable the OSD. I also click on the disable button, which disables the IR control which basically renders the remote control and power button useless to prevent any accidents. Also as AngelofDeth said this will have to be redone if you lose power to the STBs. Well worth not having to see the D10 OSD behind the SageTV OSD...
