Record HDTV Channel as default?
Been using sage for about 6 months now, and am very pleased so far. I just have 2 issues hoping to get help with that I can't seem to find answers to...
1-I want sage to always default to record a favorite show in HD and not SD. I haven't been able to find an option that make sage record HD when both HD and SD are both available. The only work around I have found is setting sage to force sage to record a favorite on a specific channel. Is there any other way? 2-When using favorites, the recording schedule only shows 2-3 days of upcoming recordings. This isn't very convenient when going on vacation to see any conflicts that may come up for a longer time. Is it possible to have sage configured so it shows about 7 days of scheduled recordings from favorites? Hope this makes sense. Sorry if these have been asked/answered before. I did quite a bit of searching/browsing and didn't find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Darin

I don't have any SD channels setup, and I only have four HD channels setup. You don't need to have every channel you receive setup. That seemingly would fix your issue.

I was doing that for a while as well, but I have starchoice satellite (canada) and they only have abc-East. So I added the abc-west SD channel which helps when there is a conflict with another network. Now sometimes sage chooses to use the sd channel and sometimes the hd channel. It would seem to me that if both an sd and an hd version of the program were available sage would automatically record the HD one....it would at least be nice if it could be configured to do so..

I just limit it to recording on the HD channel. It's a hassle but it works.

The longer the lookahead time, the longer it takes to complete the schedule, because there are that many more days worth of shows to go through. But, I think the initial schedule should be done after SageTV goes through its startup -- if you are running service mode, you'll need to stop that before editing the properties file & then restart it.
You don't really need a long lookahead time, unless you don't plan to be around an internet connection at all while gone. It is pretty quick to log on via the Placeshifter client or via nielm's web server & take a glance at the schedule. And, even if you have a long lookahead time, there is no guarantee that there won't be new conflicts, since the EPG data could change. Also, if you run into problems, support will probably suggest that you put the lookahead time back to 3 days before continuing. - Andy
