Imported videos don't play on PVR350 output

I can watch live TV on my TV set via a Hauppauge PVR-350 s-video output.
I can also play imported videos very well on my monitor. So far, so good.

However, when I try to play an imported video file on my TV set (via the same output, naturally), all I get is a frozen display of the last frame from the last live TV program that was played.

Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

Thanks in advance,
Don

What format are those import videos? The 350 uses a hardware decoder & is very limited regarding what it can play.

Format converter?

Good point.

According to the AVICodec tool, my file is
Video: 837 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 640*256 (2.50:1), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4
Audio : 92 MB, 128 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3

I assume that the PVR-350 will only handle MPEG-2, so this could be the problem. If so, is there a good general-purpose format converter that I can use?

Thanks,
Don

Question same problem with DVD playback

Same problem here, the media player won't output to the PVR-350 TV-out. I tried playing some MPEG2 files without any success neither.
Also, DVD playback doesn't work neither, and considering that DVD files are MPEG2 files, I don't understand why they don't output on the pvr-350 tv-out.

I'm using sageTV version 5. It used to be (in version 2) that PVR-350 output from the media player was simply not supported - may be it hasn't changed?

The PVR-350 can be used for output, but only for the video formats that it supports natively in its hardware: MPEG1 & 2. Encrypted DVD format is not one of them, and, even if the video is unencrypted MPEG2, the DVD audio may not work. Then there are the DVD menu structures, and...
