MVP boot problem #2
I have Sage TV V5.0.4.92, a Linksys BEFSR41 v.2 Router, and the Hauppage MVP media extender in my setup. I have run into the MVP boot problem that seems to occur because Sage has problems with the DHCP of the router.
Any suggestions to what I can do with my setup? I know I could go out and buy a new router like the Linksys 54G and hack the firmware to enable the "fixed IP address on MAC address on DHCP" fix, but I was kindoff hoping to be able to use my existing gear. I love the Sage system and am in the process of getting replacing all the antenna wiring in my house with ethernet! Mathias, Struer, Denmark |

The fixed ip didn't solve my boot problem, so before you rush out and invest in a new router, wait for Sage 5.1. Sage are aware they have a problem.

Definitely seems to be hit/miss on whether fixed DHCP resolves the boot issue. I think it worked for me but I changed too many things at once to know for sure. oops

I got identical problem. I'm now using V6 (beta) and had a look in the log file. It does receive very quickly the bootq request from the MVP, but than stops the process as the MVP has no IP. It does this regularly 'till about 6 minutes later the MVP seems to have received its IP from my DHCP router.
Log file has following block repeated a few times: "Thu 10/5 21:21:15.493 Received bootp request Thu 10/5 21:21:15.494 Op:1 hwtype:1 hwaddrlen:6hopcount:0 transaction:296517544 nSeconds:100 flags:0 MAC: 00:0d:fe:00:43:7d Thu 10/5 21:21:15.494 Matched request to client 0 Thu 10/5 21:21:15.494 Warning, request from 00:0d:fe:00:43:7d doesn't have IP." Than suddenly "Thu 10/5 21:24:29.904 Received bootp request Thu 10/5 21:24:29.904 Op:1 hwtype:1 hwaddrlen:6hopcount:0 transaction:1006802061 nSeconds:100 flags:0 MAC: 00:0d:fe:00:43:7d Thu 10/5 21:24:29.904 Matched request to client 0 Thu 10/5 21:24:29.904 servername 192.168.1.100 Thu 10/5 21:24:29.939 Sending bootp reply Thu 10/5 21:24:30.069 Received tftp packet Thu 10/5 21:24:30.038 Reading mvp.bin in mode octet Thu 10/5 21:24:30.039 Opening file Thu 10/5 21:24:30.307 TFTP timeout Thu 10/5 21:24:30.522 TFTP timeout" Than a LOT of thse timeout's followed by 'Thu 10/5 21:27:35.760 TFTP timeout Thu 10/5 21:27:35.760 Retry count exceeded" I have problems believing that this is a router/DHCP problem, as all my PC's and LAN printer get their IP without any problems, so why not the MVP ?
