No. You can't do it on placeshifter either.

Pity. It seems that this is technically possible, see http://www.mvpmc.org/

Thank you so much for this plugin. This is exactly what I needed to be able to play my Ipod playlists via Sage.

Troubles

Hey all,

I just tried installing this plug-in and it's a no-go for me. Slimserver installed OK, SoftSqueeze plays music from the Internet Explorer screens. I imported the STVi and used Nielm's menus to created a menu for it.

However, whenver I try to run it, it's almost like the transition between the Sage menu and SlimPlayer is incomplete. Slimplayer tries to come up, but I can still see the Sage menu in the back ground. Everything is completely frozen. Sometimes the Sage "spinning circle" is showing, but moving VERY slowly, sometimes not.

I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del, but when task manager comes up, Sage crashes and can't be brought back until I restart the computer.

Any ideas what the problem is? I'm running the latest version of Sage (non-beta) and I think I have the latest Java installed. The only other import I have is Nielm's menus.

Could please post the sage log file, so I can have a look.
It is in the sagetv folder and called: sagetv_0.txt

Hmm, I must have something wrong. I don't see a sagetv_0.txt file anywhere. Is this something I need to enable?

yes, I forgot. You're probably not running the beta version.
PLease sagetv and edit sagetv.properties add add the following line (with capitals)

debug_logging=TRUE

Enter the line exactly as shown above. TRUE must be in all CAPS for this property.

Before editing the properties file, make sure SageTV or the service is not running. If you edit the properties file while SageTV is running, the change will be ignored.

If you are using a client, edit sageclient.properties instead.

Hey keolec,

Sorry for the delay in response, things got busy. But I did manage to get everything working by simply reinstalling SlimServer and reloading the SVi. Don't know why it didn't work the first time, but it works now.

I have to say, the navigation takes a little getting used to, but I am liking it quite a bit. Thanks for offering your continued support for this.

Player no longer plays music

It seems like ShoutCast Radio (and maybe others no longer work). In fact, I can't even play them outside of Sage or the slimplayer directly from the internet with my WinAmp.

Any ideas?

(EDITED: NEVER MIND - it seems to be an issue with my firewall).

Thanks,
Mike

Supporting internet streams natively

Quote:
Unfortunately, again I have to let users of MVP and Placeshifter down, because this plugin will work with neither one. This is because MVP and Placeshifter only playback content streamed by the Sage Media Player. Since the Media Player does not accept input streams it will not work together with the slim server. Hopefully this plugin will be popular and triggers something at Sage to support internet streams natively, so that MVP and placeshifter users can enjoy it too.
We have had several releases since KOELEC last posted on this topic ...does anyone know if this feature is now available. We also now have a new extender available as well

no sound

I have a strange problem. A couple of months ago I stopped getting sound from the slimserver plugin on my client. It works fine (and always has) on the server. I thought it might be a java version issue or something since it was working fine for a long time and then just stopped. But I just updated SageTV and SageClient to 6.2 and updated java at the same time to 6.3 but still no sound. Slimserver is working OK in that I can bring up an album or a stream and it says it's playing but there's no sound. When I go to the slimserver web interface I can see the client player and the album I've just selected (with play highlighted) but the songs don't seem to be advancing - it just stays on the first song in the list.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

no problem

I figured out my problem but thought I would post it in case anybody else ran into it. Somewhere along the way (I assume through a java update since this is a dedicated media pc and doesn't even have a mouse or keyboard attaced) my softsqueeze audio choice was changed. Once I changed it back I was fine.

The problem I'm having is that I can use SoftSqueeze to stream Sirius radio from SlimServer (which is running on the same machine as my SageTV Server), however SlimPlayer doesn't seem to find the server. When I open SlimPlayer it sits there with nothing on the "display" and I can't navigate to anything.

Suggestions?

Slimserver has to be on the same machine as your sageTV client (the machine with the sageTV interface) as well to hear the audio. If you can use slimplayer to playback you audio files on your machine, then you can also use the sirius radio plugin. There's no configuration needed for the sirius plugin to work... just put in your username/password for sirius radio... and set the quality to high if you paid for it ($2 a month).

I guess I wasn't clear.......

SlimServer and SageTV are both installed on the same machine. I can stream my Sirius stations via SoftSqueeze over the Internet while I'm at work so therefore I know everything is setup properly there.

When I start Sage and select the SlimPlayer, it doesn't seem to find the SlimServer.

Could it be because I've setup security on SlimServer which requires me to enter a password when I connect via SoftSqueeze?

Yeah, I have a very similar setup... listening to sirius radio via ssh at work. However, I don't have security enabled anymore. I would say try disabling it to see if that fixes the problem. I remember having a weird problem with security enabled. It didnt work all the time.

Display with SlimServer

Hi and thanks for your excellent plugin.

Please help me finding a way to use SlimServer without the use of the Sage TV output: I have a little two line LCD panel in my computer.

Option 1: Does your plugin work with Nielm's External Status Monitor Interface? That would be best for me! If not, please consider adapting your plugin to "send" the two line output of SlimServer to Nielm's interface (sorry if I am not writing this correctly, hope you understand what I mean).

Option 2: Where can I find the SlimServer interface, so that I could build a little program myself, to display the two line slimserver screen in the LCD?

Thanks in advance,

You might already know this, but just in case you don't ...

The www.slimdevices.com website has forums and a wiki including information about developing squeezebox plugins - which may help in your case.
Additionally, if you start up slimserver and click on help, there's a technical information section in the help that describes some of the interfaces.

Hope this helps,

Mitch
