Dolby Prologic II decoding in software?
I have my computer hooked into my home theater. Using Cyberlink PowerDVD5 I can play back mpg files created by Sage TV in 5.1 audio with software Prologic II decoding.
When I pick the cyberlink audio decoder in Sage TV and play these same files in Sage, I only get 2 channel output. It strikes me that by selecting the Cyberlink audio decoder I should be able to access the same Prologic II decoding available in PowerDVD. Any ideas how to accomplish this? Thanks, Andrew |

Try selecting a different Audio Renderer filter in Detailed Setup->Audio. You'll need to put Sage to sleep and wake it up for the change to take effect.

I tried selecting the cyberlink audio decoder and renderer in the audio setup but I am still only getting 2 channel audio, even after quiting and restarting Sage TV.
From within Cyberlink PowerDVD the same files get processed by Dolby ProLogic II to get 5.1 channels. I treid to run graphedit to see what connections are being made by PowerDVD, but I can't connect to the remote graph (Note: I am far from being a Graphedit expert, so I may just not know how to do this correctly). Any ideas? Thanks, Andrew |

You could try using ZoomPlayer to gain access to the audio filter controls. Just open up an MPEG2 file in ZoomPlayer then look at the audio filter properties while playing the clip. I'm pretty sure it opens up all the TruSurround, Dolby Headphone settings, etc. I mention these 2 as they are the only ones I can remember right now, but there was plenty of other options in the filter.
Once you've set the audio how you want, exit ZoomPlayer. Open ZoomPlayer again, reload your MPEG2 file and see if the audio settings have stuck. If they did, close ZoomPlayer and then open SageTV. If you have the cyberlink audio filter selected in SageTV then the changes you made in Zoom should hopefully work for you now. The reason I'm suggesting it is that using this ZoomPlayer setup method *does* work for the Cyberlink video filter. In fact, its the only way I found to set color/brightness, etc, and enable DXVA for the PowerDVD5 video filters in Sage. Good luck! |

I tried the Zoomplayer trick. I was able to force Zoomplayer to use the Cyberlink audio decoder, but still get no surround. When I try to adjust the decoder properties the only option crashes the program.
Thanks, Andrew |
