Visualizations stop on MVP; revert to music select screen

I'm running the beta of 6, but I was having this problem on version 5 as well. I can select a visualization (which look much better in version 6 BTW), but when a song ends, the visualizations turn off, and the screen goes back to the music selection screen. The next song in the queue will play, but the screen just sits there. I do not have this problem when using a placeshifter client; it's only the MVP.

The default one (I think); SageTV3.xml. again, I want to stress that this was occuring on the 5.x version as well, so I don't think it's strictly related to the software per se.

I don't remember v5 having any music visualization on the MVP at all, let alone multiple ones to choose from, which is one reason I was asking. v6 shows the song info as the MVP's visualization; again: there should be no choice. (Unless my mind is really going... which is quite possible.)

Are you sure your MVP is connecting to SageTV? If so, double check the STV being used.

Let me clarify then; I was trying to differentiate between the visualization on the Server vs the visualization on the MVP/Placeshifter.

On the server, you get pretty colors and song information; on the MVP/Placeshifter, when you select visualization, v5 shows song info for a couple of seconds and then a blank screen. I realize that the pretty colors are not an option, but I'm OK with that.

On the PlaceShifter client, when the next song queues up, the song information would display, and then go back to a black screen (v5). On the MVP, the first song will show song info, and then go to a black screen (v5). After the first song completes, the next song will play, but the visualization/song info goes away. It's only on the MVP that this occurs.

In v6, the visualization has been enhanced for both the Placeshifter and the MVP (dancing song information throughout the track), but I still consider that visualization, and I still have the same problem. On the MVP, after the first song, the visualization goes away; on the Placeshifter, it continues to display.

OK, now I know what you mean. We're just using different terminology. The first little bit of info you see at the top & bottom of the screen is the OSD that is shown for whatever media you are playing. The visualization is the series of colors or the roving song info.

Have you imported anything into the default STV? Are the hidden extras turned off?

If you are using just the default STV setup w/o any customizations, I'll have to see if I can get the same results on my MVP. Edit: On mine, when one song ends, the next one continues & it stays on the playback screen, showing the song info moving around.

OK; I don't think I installed anything. I did try the SageMC stv at one point, but didn't like it so i went back to the original. Is there an easy way to revert to the default setting? (Again, newbie).

EDIT: D'oh! Deleted the properties files in the client directories and rebooted the MVP. Problem solved!

Hmmm... in your SageTV directory, there is a "clients" subdirectory, where the properties files for extender & Placeshifter clients are stored. One of them is for your MVP, but it would be hard for me to say which one.

See if one of those properties files contains this property set to true:

videoframe/always_call_fileplaybackfinished=true

If you find one, unplug your MVP, make a backup copy of the properties file, edit the original, then set that property line to false. Plug the MVP in again & see what happens.

Edit: Oh, I see you fixed it with a full properties sweep. Oh well, it would have been intersting to see if that one propertty was the issue.
