Bad stuttering and slow UI
Since installing the V6 beta both my full clients and a placeshifter client have slow response in the UI and I almost always see the spinning Sage icon whenever I perform an action. Also, several times an hour video playback will start stuttering badly for 3-10 minutes at a time. I have noticed that during these times the Sage Service CPU usage is spiking up to around 60-65 %. After a few minutes CPU usage drops back to a normal 5-10 % and client playback is OK again.
Anyone else seeing something like this? Scott |

Are you using the Malore menus?

What does that have to do with the spinning sage icon?

The Malore menus in the v6 STV have been causing high CPU usage (so slow UI and spinning icons etc.). Fix is here.

Then give that fix a go and see if it helps...

The fix I uploaded has no effect on any menu other than the 2-pane malore menus. And, as far as I know, it wouldn't have caused high cpu usage while on any other menu, so if the malore menus are not in use on any of your systems, the 'fix' won't change anything.
But, when a problem is encountered, the first thing to do is to disable ALL of the hidden features & revert back to the default STV w/o any customizations at all. If the problem still occurs, save the logs and file a bug report. If the problem only occurs when a customization is used (including the hidden features), post in the customizations forum. - Andy

I've only used the V6 beta briefly to test DVB-S support for Qian, so my observations may turn out to be wrong. I did notice that the UI was much slower than V5, although that may have been due to the service chugging along creating thumbnails and the like in the brief spells I was using it.
Will pay more attention once its being used day to day and see if the above holds true. |

I should add, that the high CPU usage occurs on the server where only the Sage Service is used. Stuttering and slow UI issues occurs on my 2 clients and a local Placeshifter. One of the clients and the Placeshifter have the default STV. The other client has only the Hidden extras enabled.
I do believe that the high CPU usage is related to the stuttering since it only occurs during these CPU spikes. Of course the high CPU usage could be due to an underlying problem that also affects the streaming. I'll disable the hidden features on the one client and file a bug report with logs. Scott |

Has anyone found a resolution to the slow and sluggish UI? I've been sending information to support for a few weeks with no feedback,
I figured while theyre working I'd ask it anyone found a resolution?

Some people in the forum have installed Java 1.6 which has fixed the spinning icon/slow UI problem.
