Network Encoder File Write
I have successfully written 95% of a Linux QAM network encoder script however the last 5% is driving me nuts. I cannot for the life of me get the recordings off the Linux box and onto the windows one.
My initial idea was to set my recording folders as windows shares and use Samba to do the write, however there is a read lock placed on all actively uploading files (Live TV), this prevents Sage from reading the file and hangs it. I then tried ftp, and while Sage can read the file as they are uploaded I cannot get a file without a fixed size to copy (it will upload what is in the buffer file up to the point that the cp is invoked but no more), not to mention having a ftp server on the sage box is a total kludge. So my question is, how you can copy files onto a windows box without a read lock? It must be possible as sage can do it, I just can’t figure out how. Alternately, is there away to set the record directory to be on the Linux box but only for the network encoder? TIA This is the last hurdle to QAM on sage, I think… -A Last edited by austin; 10-10-2006 at 07:51 PM. |

You might want to try this post over in the Sage Linux forum or alternatly the linux forum over at htpcnews.com.
If you get this working, i'll be the first in line to try it as i've got a linux box that can record QAM but no way to get it into Sage
