TV questions
I'm thinking of purchasing a new LCD TV. I was looking at the Sony 32" BRAVIA S-Series LCD HDTV (KDL-32S2000).
I have a question that is probably stupid, but if I connect the computer directly up to it via the HD-15 or S-Video, then can I still hook up the PC audio to the TV. Not sure how that works. I'm assuming that the AV inputs share with the S Video inputs. Meaning you either do composite video of S-Video? Thanks, Jason

Yes, you should still be able to hook up the PC audio to the TV. Just about every connection, s-vid, component, composite, VGA, or DVI uses separate audio inputs using RCA cables. Only HDMI or coax include the audio in with the video.
So, you should see 2 audio ports that are matched to be used with the s-video connector. edit: I attached a copy from the manual showing the connectors, and how each video input has a corresponding audio connector. You may need to get a cable that goes from the speaker-out on the PC to twin-RCA connectors for the TV. But, with that TV, I'd probably just hook it up VGA and get a cable that has speaker-out plugs on both ends. With VGA you get HDTV, whereas with s-vid you are only running SDTV. Another question. What resolution do you set your desktop with a HD LCD?

You may need to update your video card's drivers to get that screen resolution, and in many cases, I've heard that when you plug in the LCD via VGA, it'll report back to the PC via plug-in-play what it is, and automatically set the resolution. |

I've read that the playback video would be stretched if the resolution is greater than the recorded resolution. Any truth to that? I record at the highest quality that sage lets me.

Yes, there will be some reformatting of the playback to fit your screen. Sage does give you options on displaying the video. You have 4 different aspect ratios in Sage, so you could adjust to get the picture that suits you best. Only 720p HD output will be sent to your screen basically untouched. Even 1080i video will have to be tweaked to fit on a 720p screen.
