Stretching display

Howdy,

I have an NVidia 6600GT card for display. I am using the 1280x760 resolution, and the dimensions look good. However, there is about an inch on all four sides of the display that are never used. My TV is a sony KDF-e42a10. Is there a way, without having to purchase powerstrip, that I can stretch the display to fill in the screen? I am using the VGA interface to the TV.

Thanks in Advance,

Matthew

Go to settings/detail setup/multimedia/Aspect Ratio Settings

Change the top two percent numbers. The 4:3 settings are up to 108% on both to fill my screen. Play around with it for the wider screens. Someone here can give you the correct numbers. Others may have a better suggestion but this works for me.

2 things

1) Page 71 of the user manual says if you are using wide mode for viewing full 1 and full 2 will produce the black border. You might try normal if it is not there yet.

2) The native display is 1280x720 according to a review I read on it. Make sure you are using that for your output.

I think perhaps I wasn't clear. I should give a few more details.

The TV has a black border about an inch wide/tall on all sides. The PC desktop background has this border, without sage running (so I am assuming this is something Sage cannot compensate for). I have tried to adjust the display through the TV's configuration menus. It is at 1280x760. Even when I stretch the pitch, it will display underlay behavior. The screen will go out of visibility behind the 1 inch border. By that I mean the TV is streching the veritcle of the display, but it is obscured by the same damnable 1 inch border that prompted this thread.

I have not tried DVI direct conenction from the NVidia 6600GT, so it may be an issue with the VGA interface. The screen when watching in 16x9 is in perfect proportion, but has the 1 inch border of black. 4x3 naturally has a huge black border on the verticle, and the same 1 inch border at the top and bottom.

It would appear to me that I need a resolution of 1300x770 to fill the border, but the card does not support such a resolution at 60hz.

Please help, and thank you for your suggestions,

DwarF

Dwarf,

I don't own this TV, all I did was peek at the manual online for you. According to page 71 of the pdf manual, you will get a black border around your image if you are using Full 1 or Full 2 to stretch your image. Also, you state your screen resolution is at 1280x760 when reportedly your TV's native LCD size is 1280x720. I would suggest you set your image to Normal mode and adjust your Nvidia card resolution to 1280x720 or 720p if you have HD modes enabled.

That's all I got captain,

B
