Another aspect ratio question!
I'm using MVP's to watch DVB-t live tv etc and would like some clarification on MVP aspect ratio on my 4:3 tv.
Here in Australia our dvb aspect ratio changes from show to show. When there is a 4:3 transmission I get a small 4:3 picture in the middle of the screen ("letterboxed" on all 4 sides). On my set-top box there are 3 settings that can be changed "on the fly" with one button press on the remote, these are 16:9 fullscreen (which gives me a squashed, tall and skinny image), 16:9 (which gives me a letterboxed image so 16:9 movies are full width, but black bars top and bottom, and no distortion) and 16:9 center (centre) extract (which fills the screen of my 4:3 tv vertically, and cuts off the edges of the picture, with no picture distortion, this is the setting that works when they transmit 4:3 content). These 3 settings "toggle" each time I press the aspect button on my remote. Is there any plans to support this sort of thing in sagetv on the MVP? Or is there already some way to do it and I've missed it?? Fraser |

As far as I can see there is no quick AR toggle on the MVP at all. This is pretty disastrous with 16:9 recordings from a STB, which are all regarded as 4:3 by the cards and Sage - just not possible to view in the correct AR in Sage on the MVP.

Everything is regarded as 4:3, but is transmitted as 16:9, so I get nothing full screen here at all, Bummer! Perhaps I can make it a suggestion ?

Is it via a STB?

No, it's from the FusionHTDV dual DVB-T tuner card, I think it's just the way "they" have implemented DVB over here (Australia) Everything is transmitted 16:9 and they just put black bars top and bottom and adjust the width of the picture by putting black bars down the side for 4:3.

That's a blow, here in the UK it is sent full-screen, with the appropriate AR in the stream. It's the non-DVBT that gives me the problem...
You've posted about this in the Oz forum I assume?

I suppose the Oz forum would be the logical place, but I'm the only person in Australia that I know has sage and an MVP!!!!
