Runaway memory usage

I'm having a problem with excessive SageTV client memory usage on my HTPC with SageTV 6. Memory usage starts out fairly normal (although a little high) at 136mb. However, after watching some TV shows and a few imported videos (ripped DVD's), the SageTV client interface starts slowing down. Checking the client's memory usage shows an excessive amount of RAM being used... 285+ MB!

Any ideas?

There are well-known memory leak issues with Java 1.5. Use either the 1.4 version that installs with Sage, or try the 1.6 beta. If you go with 1.4, be sure to disable automatic updates of Java or you'll just find yourself right back in the same boat.

What GKusnick said. I had the same problem with version 5 and downgrading java to 1.4 fixed it.

the memory leaks are also solved in the latest development builds, but the Beta 2 still has it. Try here: http://download.java.net/jdk6/binaries/
