Instability with Sage 5.0.4, PVR-150, XP

Hello All,

Just wondering if anyone might have any specific insights into some stability problems I'm having.

Running:
-P4 2.8 on ASUS P4P800 Deluxe MB
-Hauppauge PVR-150 w/ IR blaster (updated drivers)
-ATI Radeon 9800Pro
-Win XP

I'm using Sage 5.0.4. Hauppauge drivers have been updated to latest, or latest posted on the forums as stable (tried both).

Behavior I'm seeing:
-system intermittently locks up
-video playback occasionally doesn't work on the local PC
(get a DirectX install error; tried DirectX and overlay modes)

I've tried selecting various codecs for all steps in the process. I've tried getting AC3Filter out of the way with RadLight filter manager.

Complicating factors:
-I've got WinDVD on the machine
-I've installed a lot of utilities for video and DVD processing (VirtualDub, DVDShrink, AVISynth, etc.)

I also noticed that right after I put the Hauppauge card in the system was very jerky until i installed the drivers.

So, my thoughts are:
-HW compatibility problem with Hauppauge PVR-150
-WinRot from number of previously-installed packages

Any specific thoughts before I am committed to a clean reinstall of everything? (I've reinstalled Hauppauge SW and SageTV multiple times; the latter to even get it running again after an instability).

I also got a USB-UIRT, which will allow me to put in a different card (ATI 550 TV Wonder, for example).

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks,
Dave
