Black screen or playbackexception errors after switching from ATI to nVidia
I just switched my video card from my old Ati Radeon 9550 to an nVidia 6200. Obviously it's not the most powerful card in the world, but for video playback it should be sufficient. After switching the cards, I can no longer playback any video via sage (opening them with windows media player works and my Fusion HDTV software works fine also).
I have tried all the various combinations of renderer and decoders. For all overlay choices I get: sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-4,0x80040217) There was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback. For Default Renderer: If I use any Nvidia option, or Cyberlink I get: sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-4,0x0) If I use Sage Default Decoder or Intervideo Decoder. the screen flashes a frame from the video, then turns black. I can fast forward and rewind the video and each time it will flash a frame then go back. And it never plays forward by itself. For VMR9: Sage default decoder will show a frame, but the video file will not play (timer does not move). All other decoders just show me a black screen and will the files do not play. I would appreciate any suggests you guys have on how to fix this. I've already tried reinstalling sage and reinstalling the nvidia decoders, but neither changed anything.

I think I got a defective card from newegg... We'll see what happens when I get a replacement.

Make sure you nuked the ATI drivers completely !!!!
There should be no traces of anything ATI left, then install Nvidia 92.91 drivers for the 6200 and try again. I had the same issue with an ATI-9200 when I switched to the Nvidia 6200 HDTV |

So you're not having any problems with your 6200? Does it show 1080i material ok?

The 6200 is underpowered when using VMR9 for 1080i video content.
