Playing DVDs from hard drive doesn't work

Hi. I've ripped 3 DVDs to my hard drive, but I get "there was a problem rendering the video content of the portion for playback" when I try to play any of them back.

I ripped using MacTheRipper. Maybe SageTV doesn't accept region-free DVDs? I dunno.

I haven't done one in a while with MacTheRipper. I just ripped 6 or 7 today into video_ts format (which is what mtr uses) with no issue. I am running 5.0.4 with nvidia for video and intervideo for audio. What codecs do you use?
