using remote with sagetv & xlobby
i just started testing xlobby to control my dvd changer and i was having trouble isolating remote commands between sagetv and xlobby. when i minimize or drop sagetv to system tray, it still responds to button presses on the remote control. to get around this, i was closing the sage iu (with server still running) and then used xlobby. is there a better way to accomplish this?

From your sig lines, it looks like you are using the USB-UIRT as your IR receier. If SageTV is using your USB-UIRT directly as a receiver, then it will always receive input, regardless of focus. If you want the remote to control multiple apps & switch control w/focus changes, etc., then you would need to use something like HIP or Girder.

consider turning off use of the usb-uirt in SageTV altogether and doing all remote command processing in XLobby, it works like a charm. Just have xlobby use sendmessage to talk to SageTV.

so will xlobby route commands between itself, sage, theatertek, etc without having to configure girder? or is there a need to use both xlobby usb-uirt support and girder simultaneously? edit: also, i'm using a harmony remote as my main control. what kind of device setup are people using to send ir commands to xlobby? thanks.

nah...no need for girder with the apps you've listed above. girder is only necessary for the methods of application control that it offers beyond what xlobby does. if you can sendmessage the app then xlobby is all that is needed.
check out my xlobby skin...see below, should only require a minor mod to switch the default movie player from ZP to TT (the control screen is already in place, just need to modify the play movie event so it loads the TT controls instead of the ZP controls). it's already all set up to work pretty flawlessly with SageMC stv for Sage. I have a harmony remote with a usb-uirt controlling xlobby which sends commands everywhere else (sage, winamp/foobar and zp).
