WINLIRC Plugin for SageTV

I have a WINLIRC compatible IR Receiver. I would like a direct plugin for SageTV. I know that SageTV has the ability to write plugins. Does anyone know what would be required to start writing a plugin that would work so that HIP and Girder are no longer required. Is there a way to make sage recognize a IR receiver that is made to interface with WINLIRC? If possible I would like to make a direct plugin so that WINLIRC is used for nothing more then to recognize IR commands.
Maybe something simple that would link IR commands from the IR Receiver to the Keystroke commands in SageTV?

Any help to get me to understand how to make this happen would be appreciated.

Thanks

On one of my secondary PCs, I use IRassistant which you can use to map IR commands to keystrokes. It works very well with WinLIRC and is free (direct support in SageTV would be nicer, of course).

Thomas Wischgol,
I know what your saying, i'm just trying to limit the programs that have to be used to get everything to work. I could use girder, HIP, or IRassistant to get everything to work, but the more programs that are used the better chance of something going wrong. My ideal way to make things work would be WINLIRC directly interfacing with SAGETV however I don't think that anyone is will to put work into this. The reason I want to do this is because the case I bought has a integrated WINLIRC IR receiver, and all the other alternatives that sage is has native support for (USB-UIRT, IrMan, and Streamzap) will force me to place something outside the case, and I find that rather unsightly.

This is the case that have:

As you can see the case is very nice and I don't want things hanging on the outside of it when it's done.

Thanks

I use girder (mapped to keystrokes) with my lirc DIY ($5) receiver and universal OFA remote on my craptastic P3 600 sagetv client pc. If it's fine on my slow machine, I can't see you running into resource problems with your significantly faster machine.
