DVD Problems Continue
Well - I still cannot play a DVD in Sage. It has not worked in Sage 5 or Sage 6 and I'm perplexed as to why. It seemed to happen a while back after installing purevideo drivers but I'm not sure if that is related.
It's like I put the DVD in and the entire screen shakes even when at the root menu of the DVD. One would think the DVD was faulty and the computer has a hard time reading it. It happens with any and all DVD's either rented, bought or burned. Yet, they play just fine in any dvd player as well as on the same HTPC in any other media player such as Windows Media Player or my Nero ShowTime. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? I would like to have as much self contained in Sage as I can without having to use an external media player to play my DVDs. The above is happening on my TV's in the family room and bedroom. In my home office on my computer when I try and play a DVD in Sage I get the message "There was a DVD Error in playback. Details: sage.playbackexception: Error (-8,0x2) There is a problem playing the DVD content due to macrovision or CSS. But again, it plays just fine on my media players. The problem only happens when I try and play the DVD in Sage. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike |

Double-check and make sure your DVD drive HAS NOT dropped into PIO mode. Sometimetimes that happens. Go into Device Manager-IDE Controller-secondary channel (or wherever you have it connected) and make sure it is set for DMA mode.

- Are the drives you're trying uber fast ones? I believe you can reduce the spin rate of some, might be worth trying. - Could you rip one to disk using DVDShrink and check if that plays back ok? |

Back on topic. Mike, have you tried removing the PureVideo drivers to either confirm or rule them out?
