PureVideo not in system tray. . .

Anyone know why this should be?

The purevideo control panels do not show up when I go to the advanced DVD tab in WMP either. The only way that I can edit the settings is through radlight.

DECCHECK does confirm that it is my preferred decoer though, and it makes no difference whether I set the decoder to NVIDIA or Default. This goes for both the audio and video decoders.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

So what decoder shows up in the Advanced tab in WMP?

Do you have the setting, "Prefer Other Decoder" set in there?

If that ended up being the issue, every time you install a new version of SageTV, you'll have to do this (after a reboot).

Try setting the video decoder to "Default" instead of Nvidia in SageTV. Theres a bug where the NVIDIA control panel wont show up when its selected in Sage, but it does when the decoder is left at default.

Dont ask me why.

My guess, is you need to uninstall whatever that is, because it's keeping you from using the nVidia decoders...just a guess though.

So I unregistered iviaudio.ax. . . It was an intervideo decoder. An old installation of WinDVD was hijacking my system.

Now I get the proper PureVideo window in WMP, but still no system tray icons. It's not a big deal as everything is working properly otherwise, just kind of annoying.

Anyways. . . thanks for the help.

Good to know. You are playing a video when looking for the system tray icon, right?

Yup. Tried it while playing a DVD in both Sage and WMP and nothing.

Something will come up eventually causing me to wipe my OS and begin again. That oughtta fix it

That was the audio. You probably also have the Windvd video decoder on there too. You need find it and unregister it. Or you could try reinstalling nVidia decoder. Usually the last decoder installed becomes your default decoder by....default.

I also seem to have lost my properties window.
I get the Nvidia icon when playing but when i click the properties the window doesnt show up.
Now when I control-tab to switch windows its there but I can't see it, as if it is placed beyond the desktop view!
I tried setting my video card as high as it will go but i still cant see it.
I reinstalled too.
Its as if there is some window placement that it is remembering, though I never dragged it off the desktop.

Any ideas?

No just the TV, it is the only one listed, and is the default.

Is it an SDTV, or HDTV? I could very well see it being off the screen on an SDTV...however, I thought that the software would always try to place the window in view of the resolution setting. Seems strange to me.

Are you using VNC or something to view what is on the TV, or actually looking at the TV? I've seen rare occurances where some software displays were only visible on the primary monitor, including if it was the only monitor, but also using VNC.

I haven't tried it recently, so I wonder if mine is doing the same thing...

SDTV, I do use VNC but looking at the TV I don't see it either.
I've seen this before with other apps, where it randomly places a window off the desktop and remembers to open it there next time, it's just been so long I forgot what the fix was!

The only reason I need to get to this window is because when I set the overscan in sage it looks good but when I play video (overlay mode) it zooms in which pushes the top and bottom of the sage info off. Interestingly the video is not zoomed- it fits properly.
I'd use VMR but I think the extra CPU will make my case too hot.

So, I need to mess with the purevideo settings.

This is odd.
On a whim I opened a mpeg in WMP and I can access the PureVideo control panel just fine.
I only have a problem with Sage.

You can't get to it in Sage unless you set your video for default and nVidia IS the default decoder.

Thanks, I misunderstood this issue as not being able to even see the tray icon, and I could see mine.
Once I set it to default I could open the icon's properties.
