Charter changed every channel number
My cable provider (Charter, zip 30043) apparently changed each and every channel number, and I can't get the updated channel listing from them. I have manually remapped the 4 or 5 channels that we watch most frequently, but I realy don't want to do this for each channel.
So, any ideas on how to proceed from here? Is there a way that I can see what xmltv is actually showing as the current channel lineup (just to make sure that Sage has the latest listing)? I went into the source setup and enabled/disabled some channels (I remember reading that that was a way to force a guide update, but I don't know if that's the right way). Anyway, any help would be appreciated, as I don't really know where to start. Actually, I was about to submit this, and I was on hold with Charter. When someone finally answered, the guy had no clue basically, and couldn't help me. But in the process, I happened to find this: http://charter.net/tv/login.php?prev_page=grid (which is a Charter page that apparently they didn't let the help desk know about). Anyway, it uses zap2it listings and it seems that they have the correct channels. What is zap2it, and can it be used with Sage? Is it related to xmltv in any way? TIA. |

How are you getting guide data into SageTV? If you are using the built-in EPG service, you are getting it from SageTV, who pay Zap2It for the data. The changes will probably work its way through to SageTV at some point, but you can check this FAQ (Q #2) for info about how to contact SageTV when there are guide data issues.
Or, you may need to check to see whether the provider name was changed completely when all your channels changed. If that is the case, you'll need to go to the Source Details screen and change the EPG Lineup setting. - Andy

Thanks Opus4. I guess I should've waited a couple more hours to make my post, b/c now the guide is updated and all the channels are correct. I thought I had waited long enough (almost 48 hours)
Well, one good thing came of this at least, I noticed in your sig that a new beta is out (didn't know about any v6 releases)! Gonna have to check it out. |

Argh, crappy timing, SWMBO just informed me that we missed House last night Man, just an hour or two earlier and it would've been fine. Of course I forgot about that channel when I manually mapped the others.
I should really get off my butt and get that OTA tuner card installed so I wouldn't be dependent upon the whims of Charter and the wiles of firewire. |
