SOuth African Newbie Needs Help - EPG/XMLTV related
Hi Everyone.
As per the thread title, I am based in South Africa. I purchased the SageTV software a couple of weeks ago; I am however stumped when it comes to loading EPG data from an XMLTV-file into the software. I have tried most of the Plugins available over here and the recommended steps – but I just cannot get it to load the data from the XMLTV-file I am using. The machine I am using to run SageTV is an offline machine, so I will be uploading the EPG-data manually on a weekly basis after downloading it from work. I’ve done a fresh install of SageTV (lost track of all the changes I’ve made to SageTV) I am uploading the XMLTV file that I would like to upload. If there were a kind soul out there that can please have a look at it and make some recommendations on the steps I need to follow, it would be much appreciated. I actually feel bad for asking – but I’m obviously too stupid to do this myself. As an incentive I will offer a case of South African beer and Barbeque to anyone who can help me and comes to South Africa in the near future. The attachment is a spanned zip archive. Please change the “.txt” file extension to “.z01” in order to extract the XMLTV file. I’ve done this to meet the file size restrictions on the forum. If possible step-by-step instructions would be nice, as I am not a guru, and I will never claim to be one. Windows XP Home Edition ATI Theatrix 550 Pro Thanks a stack in advance |

Hello,
Quote:
I can successfully load your data with mine. Here is how to do it: * Be sure to have Java Runtime 1.5 or newer * Download the Importer * Shut down SageTV completely * Install my Importer * Launch the my Importer, you'll go straight into the Import Wizard In the Wizard : 1) Locate your XMLTV file 2) Skip the grabber executable / arguments 3) For Time Offset : either choose -2 or -1 with DST enabled 4) Choose "based on ep. title or program description" 5) type keywords for movies, series, sport, news etc.. 6) Click on the "Edit Channels" button and : * Create lineups : a lineup is a collection of channels that you receive on one of your video sources, for instance a "Satellite" lineup etc... * click on the "Channels" tab and edit your channels : you'll have to at least specify the channel number, that is the number that you have to use to tune this channel on your video source (it can be the RF channel number or the number a IR blaset has to send to a set top box) and choose the lineup to put the channel on. Click on the Update button 7) Eventuall click on the "Edit ratings" button for translating the ratings found in your XMLTV file to those SageTV will understand. 8) Choose the days / hour of unattended import (donator version only) 9) Wait till the Import is done. Then launch SageTV and go to video sources setup, and you'll be able to choose the lineups you just created with the Importer. Let me know if you have any problems. Regards, Stéphane. |

Thanks a million for the quick reply.
Unfortunately my work has unexpectedly sent me off to Ghana Africa - and I wont be back home untill early in the New Year. I am anxious to give this a shot - thanks a million for your time. I actually have a copy of your importer on my machine at home (couldn't get it to work back then - but your reply has a couple of steps that I definately did not apply so I am confident that it will work). When are you coming to South Africa for the best barbeque and beer in the world?? |
