TV Tuners and UK TV...

I am not currently a Sage user but I've just found the site and the product looks excellent, exactly what I'm after...

However, I'm in the uk and I want the ability to watch one channel while recording another. ...or record two channels symultaneously.

I understand that to do this I need to Tuner cards, but I spoke to Haupgauge UK this morning and they say it is not possible because the two cards will conflict.

Does anyone have any experience to offer of multiple haupage cards in one machine, particularly in the UK?

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks, Adam.

Did you read the SageTV Features page (http://www.freytechnologies.com/stvfeatures.html), down towards the bottom, where it says: "Multiple Tuner Support - Record two or more shows at the same time!"

Many people on the forum are doing exactly that; some are using even more tuners. I have a PVR-250 & a PVR-USB2... works great.

I don't know why Hauppauge said that... unless they were referring to their own software?

Cheers for the quick reply, that's what I was hoping you would say. I did see the info you directed me to, but I decided haupauge couldn't possibly not know their own product as well as frey seem to ;o)

I think I'm just gonna buy a card and have a play with the demo of sage, it looks excellent.

Adam.

I realized that I should add one caveat: some people have posted comments about problems getting two 250s to work together on one system, but most people don't seem to have that problem. I don't know the exact problem, since it is not something I've had to research. If you do a forum search along the lines of "multiple tuners", you should get more info.

Also, be aware that the built-in program guide is not available in the UK, so you would have to look into the XMLTV plugin.

I'll have to agree that it looked excellent when I was researching what system to use... and it works excellently now that it is all installed. As far as I know, it is the _only_ solution for a PC-based PVR, if you want to use multiple tuners. (At least when using Windows.)

Could you forward the e-mail to me you received from Hauppauge? We've come across this in the past and were trying to make sure that all their sales offices know that two cards do actually work together and the we support this. You can send it to me at info@freytechnologies.com.

Thanks.
