HD died...now how do I delete the old show info?

One of my video-recording HDs failed this week, and I'm not sure how to get sage to release/delete the show info for shows that had been on this drive.

Sage seems to be waiting patiently for the drive to come back to life. All the show info remains, but with a 0 Gb file size in the recording listing.

The drive is beyond dead, so how to I get sage to dump the old info?

I had planned to map a dummy (i.e., empty) folder to the former recording directory, in the hopes that sage would see that the drive is back, but without the recordings -- and therefore delete the show info.

Any thoughts on this?
thanks
Matt

Basically you need to duplicate the old HD so that Sage can see that the drive has come back on line and that the shows are gone.

IF it is a local drive, you just need to get the same drive letter back up. Either add a new HD in with the same letter, use a USB drive with the same drive letter, or else map a network drive to that letter pointing to an empty folder. Once Sage sees the drive is empty, it will delete the old show info and you can then remove the temp drive.

If you have problems setting up a fake path for the old drive, you should be able to just use the Delete command to get rid of entries whose files you know are no longer around.

Hmm...didn't seem to work quite as smoothly as I had hoped.

I mapped an empty directory to be my "D" drive, and assumed that Sage would see that there were no shows in there, and delete the 50 or so show entries (that had been on the old D drive).

Even after forcing an EPG update, sage wouldn't auto-delete them. I can certainly do it manually, but I assumed that Sage would be able to do it for me.

Thanks
Matt

did you restart Sage as well as forcing an EPG update? It may take a restart, and some time for Sage to do a filesscan to finally notice the files are really gone.

By request, I added this as another Q to this long FAQ entry (see the last Q in that post). Let me know if it doesn't make sense or is missing something.
