DVB-S: how to setup satellite channels?

Trying to figure out satellite configuration for DVB-S...

What do I need to do in order to configure SageTV (RC2) to view the FTA channels on the Amos satellite (11177 V on http://www.lyngsat.com/amos1.html)?

thanks

I think you're out of luck for a guide however unless you can get a custom one from somewhere.

channel changing can be done by using an ir blaster and programming the codes for the box
He's talking about DVB-S - there is no box, just a DVB-S card in his PC.

First you have to get a DVB-S card with BDA Drivers. After installing it, SageTV will recognise it as a "Digital Tuner".

In your SageTV\SageTV directory you need to place a file called PredefinedScaSat.frq with contents along the following lines where "Israel" should be changed to the country you setup SageTV with. You can also add additional frequencies for FTA as they become available.

When you setup the capture source, SageTV will perform a scan of the frequencies and save the found channels.
For EPG you need to search in the forum to see which XMLTV source other users from your area are using.

##predefined scan cable DVB-S frequence table
#DVB-S setup: (frequnecy, symbol_rate)+polarisation
#polarisation linear_H:1 inear_V:2 Circular_H:3 circular_V:4
#Name:Amos; 3590; 6; 9750; 10600; 11700
"Israel"=[ (11777,8520)+2, {tune=1, pat=8, sdt=30} ]

Hi, thanks for you help Lucas.

I do have a DVB-S card with BDA drivers (works fine with ProgDVB!).
I've created PredefinedScanSat.frq with contents as in your message.

SageTV setup recognizes a 713x BDA Analog Capture source.
Here's what I've done step by step:
1. choose Digital TV Tuner input
2. Sage prompts to choose between tune Cable TV or tune Antenna Broadcast. There's no option for satellite, so I assume I need to choose Cable Tv.
3. Select no EPG from this source
4. Select Yes-Scan for all channels now.
Sage scans but all I get is a "no signal" sign.

In my sagetv folder, a file named 713x BDA Analog Capture(DVB-S)-0.frq was created, with the following content:
Code:
#DVBT channel setup table ver 2.1, country:Israel

loaded predefined freq table: 0 channel freq
total_channel:200
#ch:index onid tsid program_id freq band 0 ctrl_bits(1:enable; 0:disable)
ch:1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0	#
ch:2 0 0 0 0 0 0 0	#
ch:3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0	#
.... (all empty till ch:200)
What am I doning wrong?

You could try the "Antenna Broadcast" selection.

If that doesn't work, it may be an issue with the low Symbol Rate (8520) of the frequency you are trying to scan.

It could also mean that SageTV doesn't pickup the info from the *.frq file.
