Power Outage, Sources Removed?
I was one of the million or so people who lost power in western Washington state last week. Anyway it came back on Tuesday night but the cable was out. I started up my computer a few times but always stopped the sagetv service as there was nothing to record. So this morning I noticed that the cable was back on, so I went and started up sage again. When I started the GUI, it asked me for my region and if I used ntsc format. But none of my capture sources were present and none of my channel lineups were available.
Our internet is still down so I am not surprised that I have no guide info, however, why would my devices be removed? It appears that all my previous recordings are available. I have some backups from when I upgraded to the beta 6.0.15, but of course those wiz.bin and property files would be out of date by a few weeks and I would probably end up with some orphaned recordings in my imported videos. Should I try to restore from a backup anyway, to a previous wiz file, or do I need the properties files, or both? Or should I just re configure my sources and move forward on to the release version of 6? Thanks, H |

It sounds like the properties file(s) got corrupted & it is trying to go through a new configuration process. Or, the tuners disappeared from view & got removed. Either way, I would try just reconfiguring yor sources/etc. and continuing from there. It might be a good time to make some additional backup copies before moving on, though.

Ya, when I saw that it was goofy, I ran my bat file to back up the folder just in case it might be useful. I left everything running to see if anything would happen while I'm at work, or when/if the internet comes back on. I need to upgrade to the latest release tonight, and when I called to report the cable outage, I changed my service, so I have some mucking about to do anyway.
I think I might set a scheduled event to copy the properties files and wiz files more regularly, but none of that matters when the power is out. I need to check and figure out why the UPS didn't shut down the PC gracefully. |

This happened to me when Rita struck Baton Rouge last year. I just had to re configure each tuner card in Sage and all was well. Fortunately, we now have backup power for when the next storm strikes.
