Changing Channels for Satellite and Cable???

I got a new straight thru serial cable for my Sony Sat receiver and that seems to be allowing me to change channels now when I test it using that DTVCon program. However, in SageTV when I set the channel to 3 and turn on my Sat. Receiver it doesn't know that I want to change channels for the satellite as opposed to the Cable tv source. How do I get SageTV to change sources for when I want to change channels back and forth between cable and satellite? (ie. local cable channel is set to 3 in sagetv; i then power on sat. receiver and livetv displays channel 3 but the show being displayed is hbo sat. channel 503; when i use the sagetv up channel button it changes the channel to 4 and not 504 for satellite. It still thinks I am on the cable source as opposed to the satellite source) Any ideas on how to correct this... I must be overlooking something really simple.
p.s. I have a hauppauge 250 tuner card in my pc.

So are you using multiple tuners or multiple sources? If you are using multiple sources, disable all the overlapping channels so SageTV doesn't confuse betweent the two.
