using powerdvd renderer?
I read in another post that for Radeon video cards (i have an 8500), the powerdvd video renderer works best. I tried downloading the trial version of powerdvd, and the audio renderer shows up, but nothing new in video, just overlay and vmr9. Am I doing something wrong or just misunderstanding what that meant? Thanks in advance.

Look for it under the mpeg2 video decoder filter setting.

It may not be a direct show filter - I think that Power DVD and Wind DVD require the end user to actually use their front-end app...
Although I could be wrong Darryl |

Both will show up as decoder choices. Be aware that 5.1 S/PDIF passthrough may not work if you use the audio decoder also. At least back in v6 of Win DVD, it would only pass 5.1 if you used their app...I have no idea what the current situation is.

Well, if you went registry diving, you could get S/PDIF passthrough working in external apps with WinDVD's audio decoders.
