Dual Tuner STB, Firewire and channel change

I got myself the SA 8300HD dual tuner HD DRV STB with 2 open firewire ports from my cable company.
I had to order a Add-On PCI express firewire card and plan to hook it up as soon as I get the card. I contacted Scientific Atlanta and they said that both tuners can be accessed from the one firewire cable even though the unit has two firewire outputs. They state that the 2 ports are bridged and only needed if more bandwitdh is required.
My question is: Will Sage be able to use the 2 tuners and be able to change the channel on each without disturbing the other?
IE: If I am recording HD from one tuner and another HD show starts will I be able to get both without a problem?

Also, for anybody with a HD DVR STB hooked up via firewire, are all the SD channels just lost and not recordable? I ask because the STB is a DVR. Is it possible since the DVR digitizes everything to HHD anyways that I should be able to get everything that is not 5C'ed right? Or wishful thinking?

Yup, it looks like you may be the first. From reading the firewire mega-thread, I was under the assumption that you could only record 1 stream from an STB, even if it was a dual-tuner box. That would be cool if you could pull streams from both tuners.

Yes, the dual ports on the back are bridged. I've heard that some people have daisy-chained 2 STB's using both ports.
