Hi Symour,

Welcome to the forums. The best way to control the DirecTV D11-100 is using the PatersonTech TV Translator 3. I have 4 of these boxes, and the devices work great! You can find them at http://www.patersontech.com. Other than that, you will need a tuner card for your PC. Depending on the type of computer you have, you may want to do an internal card or an external USB device. I would look at the Hauppauge lineup. As far as the remote control goes, you could use the DTV remote if you get the USB-UIRT, but I would recommend the MCE remote solution from Microsoft. It can be had relatively inexpensively, definitely cheaper than the USB-UIRT.

Have fun!

And one more thing, my hauppage comes with a remote i dont know if its an mce one because i got the wintv pvr usb2 ext mce w/ remote. maybe it's an mce remote, can i use this remote as a remote for sagetv/directv?

SageTV has Zap2It guide integrated in to it. The remote which comes with your USB PVR will change the channel with Sage which will send the channel change request to the DTV box via the Paterson cable.

It should be- the direct tv serial plugins have been around for a while.

You might want to search the forums for the correct .dll file....I remember reading something about a newer one not working as efficiently as the old .dll control file. So its just a matter of copy/paste the old one over the new one- I dont know if its fixed either......I use the same setup with D11-100s but just started a week or so back...and on Sage 6- had no issues with sage control at all. SO I would recommend changing nothing for now- once you get your cables from patersontech- give it a try with your current setup- and you can take it from there.

Good luck.....

hey guys, new to the forum. I've done some reading and found this thread. I am still a little confused and was hoping someone could help.

I've got the d11-100 so I know i need the parsontech translator. I will be using MCE however I'm confused on how the dtv rg6 cables plug up. I know I need a tuner card also but after I get that, do I go from sat > tuner card > receiver? Also, I can use the MCE remote with this setup right? Ive got the pc ready but just need the translator, remote and tuner card if i'm thinking correctly. Thanks.
