Best remote control option for client PC

Good afternoon,

I'm in the process of splitting my SageTV system into a client / server setup. The current setup uses uses the IR port on one of the PVR250 cards to allow me to use my two 45 key Hauppauge remotes.

Since all recording will now occur on a separate system, I need to re-evaluate this setup. My wife loves the Hauppauge 45 button remote, so I'd rather not replace those, if possible.

What would be the best - and easiest - solution to use the Hauppauge remotes without the Hauppauge IR receiver and software - is it possible?

Worst-case, I have an old PVR350 I haven't ever really used, so I could throw that in this box and use it simply for IR.. but that seems umm. like a waste. If possible, I'd like to throw thew PVR350 into the new server as well, giving me 5 tuners (yes, I'm sick.. lol)

The USB-UIRT will work with most remotes including your Hauppauge remotes.

Thanks for the response, Blade. Quick question on using the USB-UIRT. I already have one that I'm using as a blaster. But, if I were to purchase an additional one for use with the Hauppauge remotes, does it require any client software that I would need to configure - such as girder? Or, is it simply the same old USB-UIRT driver and then switch Sage to use the USB-UIRT to receive the IR signals?

Thanks!

Yes, just install the driver and set everything up in Sage. I believe the Hauppauge remote toggles between two different codes for each button. So when setting it up you'll need to link both codes to the commands in Sage. As you probably know you can link multiple codes to each command so you don't have to do anything special.
