Linux Sage sputters?

If I let sagetv run on my Linux for a couple of days without restarting SageTV, I start to have problems.
- Video played back on my MVP will periodically freeze for about a second or 2, then resume playback.
- Connecting to the server from my Win PC via Placeshifter fails. I get the blue "Connecting" screen
that never goes away.

I'm not sure the cause of this, but 'top' shows CPU and MEM util at normal levels while this is happening.

I'd attach the latest 4 logfiles (grabbed immediately after I saw the problem), but the _0 and _1 are each 9MB and splitting them into 750kB files is ... well ... a lot of work. Maybe one of you has an idea of what I can look for in the files.

I moved from Windows to Linux to avoid issues with rebooting/restarting.

any ideas?

thanks,

-Mike

Could you run tail -n 5000 sagetv_0.txt > smalllog.txt on the log file then attach it here.

Thanks

I would say this is a unique problem with your setup. I have multiple linux servers running sagetv and MVP extenders and have never encountered this problem. Can you provide more information on your system and version of linux?

Ubuntu 6.06.
java version "1.5.0_06"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-b05, mixed mode, sharing)

I'm not running anything else. I have no monitor on the server.

Are there any commands that would show any valuable information wrt the setup? (I'm not much of an admin)

I think I attached that right.

smalllog.txt

thanks

Sputtering

I've had the same sputtering problems after leaving SageTV Linux running for a few days. I traced the problem to my network card though. In addition to watching your Sage log, keep an eye on your system logs also.
