SageTV Processor Intensive?
I have two PCs I can use as my Sage box (version 5). One is a P3 1Ghz and the other is a P4 1.9Ghz. Problem is the 1.9 is a slim desktop case which means my PVR 150 won't fit inside of it unless I leave the top off the case which I don't really want to do.
So will a P3 1Ghz with 512 RAM (might be able get to 768 if I can find some extra sticks) work to run Sage OK? The OS will be Windows XP. I will mostly be using it for playing back AVI files that I've downloaded and for recording shows when I'm not home. I doubt I'll ever use any of the Live TV recording options at all if that matters. Thanks. |

I tried Sage Client once on a P3-1ghz, and it couldn't handle playback of alot of Xvid/Divx stuff (stutters, sound drops out, etc). You'd be MUCH better off using the P4 machine. would it be possible to move the P4 board into the older P3 case?

Man. Heffe, you are my new best friend. Board fits just fine in the other case and now I don't have to go buy any extra hardware. THanks!
