Your have to head down to Jaycar or Dicksmith and get an aussie power supply that matches the volts and amps.
Just take the power supply you have and I know Jaycar will look after you.

What ever you do don't go and swap out the U.S socket for the Aus socket that's a no, no.

Zbobz,
If yours is like mine it's what's called a switch-mode power supply and on the label underneath it's rated for 100 - 240 volts. If (and only if) it says this then you have 2 options:
Get a pair of pliers and while grabbing the prongs one at a time at the base give them a twist untill they match another plug that you use as a template

OR

Buy a little Australian to US travel adapter.

I have 2 mvp's and both work fine on the power supplies that came with them (for almost a year now)

Could you let me know how you get on with your MVP as I've been having issues with SageTV and the Australian Digital TV here in Melbourne (Sound drops out, then video freezes, or video is just frozen when a channel tunes in)

On a side note, these "universal" power suplies are becomming more popular now, and it's a great thing for us people that buy "stuff" from the States that we can't get here!!!

Cheers,
Fraser

Fraser, it sounds like you are using the wireless MVP.
If so, it would be better to use a hard wired cat5 installation with the MVP, to allow better streaming of hd content.

In regards to the power supply. I was going to mention the US travel adapter but at around $13, I would rather play it safe and spend the extra and get a matching australian power supply.

regards,
Oz

Hello Ozfiles,
No I'm using a wired one!
I have had trouble since the start with Sagetv, Qian has been trying to get to the root of the problem but we have had no luck so far.
Are you using a MVP?
If so , are you using a digital capture card?
My next attempt will be with a new motherboard - mine is a bit of a cheapie.

I'm using a locally brought MVP I got from these guys, http://www.newcomputers.com.au/produ...roductDetailed
I am using the Divco fusion dual card for my digital content.
I'm not having any trouble with the content streaming to the MVP, so maybe it could be your system.
Going by your last post you have a switch mode power supply so I would assume the unit is getting the right voltage......You may like to go and get an aussie power supply, just to rule out the U.S power supply as the cause.

regards,
Oz

It may be time to add a new motherboard Fraser and look at adding some grunt to your htpc. I haven't had any issues at all with my system, you can get my specs from my signature.
Let us know if you resolve it.

regards,
Oz

Ozfiles,
Could you tell me the Dvico driver version you are using?
Also, what version of SageTV are you running.
Ta,
Fraser

Ta Oz,
Same as me on both counts.
I tried a new motherboard today, Same problems (mainly Channel 10 here)
Audio drops out, then picture freezes, (this only happens on MVP playback, not on the server) or when I change channel it just doesn't completely "lock on" to the stream.
Happens on pre-recorded and "live" tv.
Could I put a short recording up on my webserver and ask you to download it and try to play it on your MVP?
I think it's "quirk" in the ten melbourne stream, but I can't tell.
My next step is to get another tuner card and try that, but this one works fine with the sofrware that came with it.

No problem Fraser, upload it and I'll check it out for you.
Just a thought. Do you have placeshifter? I would be curious if the channel 10 hdtv stream played ok through placeshifter.
I did have the problems you are describing with channel 10 hdtv streams not playing in placeshifter but that was before I had my MVP and I was using version 5 of sage, so I couldn't tell you if that was a problem but I would assume so. I fixed the problem by changing channel 10 from hdtv to a digital stream in the freq file.

regards,

Oz

Oz,
I've popped it on www.ashpool.net/leigh for you to grab.
the problem happens just before the end.
Cheers,
Fraser

PS Let me know when you have it so I can delete the directory.

Fraser, I started to download it this morning just before I left for work, so I couldn't wait around for it to finish.
I have just logged into the home computer and it has finished downloading, so it is ok to delete the file.
I have just watched it at work, using placeshifter and it plays fine, right to the end. I will let you know how it plays on the MVP but if it is playing ok using placeshifter, I don't see the MVP being a problem.

regards,
Oz

I just tested the test stream Fraser and it's playing fine on my MVP.
I don't know what to tell you.
I recently did a format and reinstall of sage on my htpc and only installed the pure video codec and divx, xvid codec's and the system is extremely fast and stable, so you might like to consider that.

regards.

Bugger!
I'm at a loss!
The machine that I was using is a P4 HT 3GHz like yours,
Is rock steady too.
Hmmmmm
Also a fresh install of XP Pro and only drivers/software required for Sage.
Even tried win2k3 server as an OS.
Tried another motherboard with a P3 1.6GHz
Tried a new network switch
Tried a new router
Tried several network cards
3 different video cards

Exactly the same problem every time.
no idea what to do next.

Thanks for your help Oz,
I'll see if I can grab another file in the next couple of days with the problem in the middle of the file.
Ta again,
Fraser

Hey Guys,

After alot of messing about i finally got my MVP set to PAL, the dodgey software that came with it wasnt letting me change it.

Other than the wireless on the extender being a total POS im really happy with it wired into my lan. Awsome setup I must say and im not experiencing any of the problems discussed with playback.

Oh and im in sydney running the latest version of sage on a win 2003 server box AMD 4600+ cpu dvico dvb-t tuner card. Its all sweet here glad i went with this setup.
