MyHD and PVR-350

So far, so good! I have the MyHD HDTV card and a PVR-350 running in the same computer with no conflicts. Obiviously, I can't watch two things at the same time. However, I can record HD content and have SageTV plugging away in the background. So, I just don't schedule Sage to record shows that I'm going to grab in HD. Pretty sweet IMO. It didn't take anything special to get it running. I installed the PVR-350 first and got it stable. Then I installed the MyHD card in a PCI slot further down the line. Windows XP.

Now the next tast is going to get this all working with the HD cable that's coming next week. I'll keep you posted on how it works out. I'm not going to be able to record off of the cable in HD as there is no interface provided. So I'll probably still use an antenna to record OTA broadcasts.

Hey freat,

Another "Q". Are you using the MyHD MDP-120 card to output all video content (e.g. DVD, TV broadcast, etc...) while the PVR-350 is being used to tune in cable?

I have the MDP-100, not the 120, but for this purpose it shouldn't matter.

I am using a Hauppauge PVR-350 to output VGA for the TV. I run the VGA loopback cable to the MyHD for Hi-Def content. The MyHD then runs to a VGA-Component transcoder which runs component output to my HDTV (Samsung 32" CRT).

The two apps compete for overlay so you can't run both displaying at the same time. But, you can minimize Sage and let it run in the background recording while you fire up MyHD and watch / record your hi-def content.

I'm fortunate to live where Comcast has enabled firewire output on the Motorola cable boxes. Once I get some spare time, I'm going to request my box be switched out and I should be able to record HDTV straight off of cable (including HBO etc!). Once I can do that, you'll see the MyHD card on ebay.

Time to get a mobo with firewire as part of the southbridge, so I don't saturate the PCI bus with too much going on... especially if I want to upgrade to GB ethernet as well. Too much to do, too little time...
