Slow remote control response while playing game...would NAS drive help?
I just got a wired Media Extender and love it, but when I'm playing my current computer game (Fable), the response from the remote control becomes soo slow that it's not usable. Works fine otherwise. I was wondering if recording my shows to a network NAS drive instead of on the PC would help. Or maybe a duel core CPU for my computer??
Also, I was wondering if the computer has to be ON in order to watch shows recorded on a NAS drive. Any recommendations on a NAS drive?...I've never owned one. Saw this one in a post recently: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/periphera...igs-235397.php |

My guess is that the game is using all the cpu power, so there isn't much left for SageTV. In that case, a more powerful and/or dual cpu would work better.
The extender has to connect to the SageTV server in order to do anything -- it actually runs as part of the SageTV process on the server PC. The extender can't do anything when not connected to the server and cannot play the video directly from a drive. - Andy
