PC won't construct graph for DVD playback
Hi,
until recently my system was working fine and would play back either DVD's or DVD's ripped to the HDD. However about 2 days ago (Before I installed the latest beta) it suddenly stopped playing any DVD's. It will play mpeg2, avi's & mp4's no problem - It will also play the vobs themselves fine. However trying to play a DVD causes Sage (Or WM Player) to lock up completely. I've tried using graphedit to render the video_ts.ifo file and it says it couldn't construct the necessary graph. (But it will play the vobs no problem). I have sage latest beta, Nvidia decoder, FFDShow, Haali splitter , ac3filter and reclock installed on the system. Does anyone have any suggestions ? Cheers Mark

If you had the problem before the latest beta then something has changed.
I had the same issue but only after installing the beta. SageTV support suggested putting in the following property. videoframe/use_nvidia_pp_when_decoder_selected=false

Hi Lucas,
thanks for that - It was set to true in my properties file. I changed it too false, but it still has the same problem. If I run in windowed mode, I can see the reclock icon come up, but not the Nvidia Icon. But If I play an Mpeg file, I see the Nvidia Icon appear. I can try rolling back to an older version of sage, but I also have the same problem trying to play from Windows MP, so I had assumed it was a PC issue. Thanks for the input, appreciate it. Cheers Mark

Hi,
I installed WINDVD8 trial and it can playback DVD's off my HDD or the DVD player fine. Is there anyway to see the graph that Sage is trying to construct ? Cheers Mark

Ok,
Does anyone know then, If you drop an IFO file into grpahedit, should it play it ok ? Im just trying to figure out if interpreting graphedit not playing the ifo is normal, or is symptomatic of something else. Any input appreciated. Cheers Mark

ok I guess no one has any input.
Let me try a different approach, Im thinking of either using the external media player option (zoomplayer) or a full reinstall. If I go for zoomplayer, I know how to get it too autoclose after finishing playback (Call it with /Q option). However - before I splash out and buy the pro version, I would like to know how seamless this would be - e.g. If I press stop too end the file playback, does zoomplayer close itself and Im back in Sage ? Please - anyone with any input , I would be very grateful. Cheers Mark

Well,
Zoomplayer is seamless for playback, but it won't exit on double press of stop. I can use girder or eventghost to monitor the event, see the foreground program and close zoomplayer, but I'd rather not start adding that level of complexity. Guess I must be the only person ever to expererience this. Oh well looks like a reinstall.

Ha,
got it. Rebuilt the system from the ground up. Installed codecs, etc 1 by 1. AC3filter is the culprit - seems my copy has become corrupt. I've used ffdshow audio filter ac3 spdif passthrough. Works like a charm. I've posted this in case anyone else gets the same issue.
