OK I'm trying out option #2. Can you extract the jar from the attached zip file to your JARs folder and restart SageTV? The generated XML file should have roles in it even for version 5.

Of course! Had company over the weekend, and didn't see this post until just now.

Stopped, installed, restarted, and all is great. SageTray seems to run 100% now, and no noticeable issues with the webserver to my knowledge.

You're the man, Jason! Thanks again for the help and quick turnaround.

Regardless of the current lack of necessity, I think I probably will move ahead on the v6 upgrade next year, and adopt all the new SageTV toys. Look forward to playing with the Jetty interface, and learning something new.

Thanks for the time and perseverence, especially on v5 s/w. It's greatly appreciated.

SageTray questions...

I am new to SageTV. I used to use Windows Media Center (MCE) until my OEM tuner card failed. Instead of spending $80 for an out-of-date OEM single tuner card (thru HP), I decided to get a discounted Hauppauge PVR-500(dual tuner) card. After finding out that my video drivers in MCE were unstable with the PVR-500, I gave up and switched to SageTV. Overall, I am happy with SageTV. The problem I have is related to getting SageTV to record in background while I am working on the computer doing other things. For example, I want SageTV to record ABC's LOST at nighttime while I am doing other computer stuff. In the MCE world, Windows would display a red dot in the clock corner to let me know that something was being recorded in background. With SageTV, I have no way to tell if my favorites are being recorded or not. I have to stop what I am doing, load SageTV, go into the Schedule and look for the red REC in the upper right corner. How can I get an icon to appear in the clock area to let me know that a favorite TV program is being recorded in background? I want it simple and not a memory hog to lock up the computer. Will SageTray do this for me? Am I reading the description correctly? djm

Feature Request

Hello,

I absolutlely love this app. I used something similar for GBPVR before I converted and was really missing the visual record indicator, thank you for making this!

I just had a small request, any chance you can add in a minimum font option for the recording schedule window (and options screen, but less important)? I really have a hard time reading the recording schedule text from across the room on my HTPC.

If you could also make it so when you double click the icon it opens SageTv instead of the options screen that would be perfect!

Thanks!

-DH

Yes, this will do that for you. There are various colors depending on the state of SageTV (red when something is recording, yellow when something is about to...)

Yes, I will take a look into that. Sorry I was so late in responding. I got used to getting email notifications when someone posted to this thread and for some reason, it hasn't been working lately.

No problem, I had the same problem with a forum a couple of months ago. Glad to see you are still monitoring this

Version 1.4.0.0 Released

Hi all,

I just posted the latest release. It adds a few new features and fixes one annoying issue that caused SageTray to become unresponsive when it was unable to communicate with the web server.

One of the more interesting new features is the ability to configure power management settings. These allow you to prevent the computer from going to sleep or shutdown based on the state of SageTV. A big thanks to dhgb25, who helped develop and test these features. I hope you find them useful.

Here is the changelog:

Version 1.4.0.0 [08/05/2010]
- Added Power Options tab for configuring preferences for shutdown and sleep modes
- Added preference setting for double-click action (launch config panel or SageTV)
- Resolved an issue where the app became unresponsive when it was unable to communicate with the web server
- Added a timeout preference for web server communication
- The app now automatically opens to the Plugin Setup tab the first time it starts up (if no configuration has been previously saved)
- Moved the location of the About tab
- Added balloon popup that indicates when an error occurred

Thanks for the update, I love your program and use it all the time.

I just upgraded, but now all I get is "Error updating_Schedule: [Get Feed - Conflicts]" I dont get this with the old version.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Try changing the web server timeout value. You may need to increase the default setting. I would also check to make sure that the web server settings are still the same as before. (ie: username/password/ip)

Crash and burn on my system. Here's the dialog box:

"Microsoft .NET Framework"
Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click
Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If
you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
Method not found: 'Boolean
System.Threading.WaitHandle.WaitOne(Int32)'.

Never had a shot to try 1.4.0.0 if that made a difference. Look at my .sig for the current config, in case you've not made it backward compatible. Reverting back to 1.3.3 worked fine. Happy to help debug!

Thanks, k10ck3r!

Hi ToonGal,

It turns out that this particular API is only available in .NET 2.0 SP2 or later. I use this API to prevent the status check from locking up when the web server is offline. Could you check and see what version of the .NET framework you have installed? Updating to a later version of the framework may be needed (ie: 2.0 SP2 or 3.5). Update: there is an older API that I could use instead if necessary. Will wait to see what you find out on the .NET version. I could put together a test build for you with the other API if necessary.

Thanks,
k10ck3r

Originally, the answer was 'how?' but I found the answer. Pasting "javascript:alert(navigator.userAgent)" in the address box showed my version strings. (I added them to the info in my .sig here, so you know what version.) Don't know if that is SP2 or not. Will do further research for w2k compatibility. Answered the PM too, K.

Thanks, hun!

EDIT: Looked up .NET for w2k. The SP2 is Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP, so I probably do need a backwards compatible version. *sigh*

No idea why it didn't work. Don't think it went out. Resent email. Going to a wedding out of town today, but will be back tomorrow night. Should be able to test by Tue or so.

Thanks!
