Thanks for the heads-up. I'll check into it.
Are you perhaps still using one of the beta builds? I recall fixing a problem like this in one of the beta builds. I can't seem to reproduce this problem with the latest one.

That's entirely err...possible.

Apparently I was still running 1.3.0b3. Noticed there's a 1 hour time stamp difference between the b3 and the final, so maybe you fixed it in that time frame

I'll only post back here again if I see the issue on 1.3 final....

Thanks,
M

Maybe little bugoid - or featureoid. Running 1.0.3 and latest Nielm webserver. Here's the scenario.

Create a timed recording. - no problem

View the timed recording. - no problem

Remove the manual recording status so that SageTV will delete it when it needs space. At this point, after SageTV server and SageTray are restarted, SageTray will show a gray icon and indicate an error in the tooltip. There is AFAICT no way to fix the problem other than to delete the timed recording. The webserver calls it an unknown recording after the manual record status is removed. I think that the change of name in the webserver and the error in SageTray are related.

Not a very big bug. Just passing it on.

Great and useful little app. Need to tell the guy who just created another app called SageTray to change the name to avoid confusion.

Thanks

Ok, it looks like the xml feed from the web server comes back as null when this situation occurs. I will forward the information to nielm to see what he can determine. In the meantime, I will create a build that ignores the null feed.

Version 1.3.1 Posted

Version 1.3.1 [09/09/2008]
- Added work-around for error state caused by a null "Sage Recordings" feed. The null feed (pretty uncommon) only occurs when the manual recording status of a recording is removed and then the webserver is restarted.

Help with Setting Up SageTray App

Yes, I am rather a noob with software and new to SagetTV and in my trial period ATM and trying to make it as nice or nicer then BeyondTV so I can purchase it and be happy.

I am lost if a program or customization does not have step by step instructions for the noob and feel like I have either done some thing wrong in setting SageTray App up or maybe just not understanding what else it needs and how to verify that I have it.

I simply unzipped it in its own folder on my desktop for now and when I click on the app it creates the icon in my icon tray but is grey and when I put my pointer on it I get this message:

Error_UpdatingSchedule:[Playing] Get Client Feed

Any how to install this with step by step on what to check or setup would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Step by step instructions:
1) Install the SageTV WebServer plugin. See instructions here: http://tools.assembla.com/sageplugin...bserverInstall
2) Verify the web server plugin is working by entering this in your web browser:
"http://[IP_ADDRESS_OF_COMPUTER_WITH_SAGE_TV]:[PORT_NUMBER - default value is 8080]/sage/Home"
example: http://127.0.0.1:8080/sage/home
3) Start SageTray
4) Right-click icon in the Windows system tray to bring up the context menu and select "Configure SageTray"
5) Select "Plugin Setup" tab
6) Enter server address (IP address of computer where SageTV and WebServer Plugin are installed).
7) If you configured WebServer Plugin to use a username/password, check the "Login Required" box and enter the username/password. I believe that the default settings for username/password are sage/frey (SageTray defaults to these values)
8) Click "Apply" and see if the icon turns blue. If not, see if a setting was entered incorrectly and apply again. Once it seems to be working, click "Save+Exit".
9) Once it is working ok, there are a number of preference settings you can modify under the "Preferences" and "Email Setup" tabs.
10) There are also links in the context menu for selected web server pages.

Hope this helps.

Thank You for the fast reply and the perfect instructions for this Noob.

Followed the instructions and setup went perfectly.

Love having the up coming schedule at you finger tips in the icon tray and all the other extra perks.

I will rest much easier knowing it will alert me to issues. Now only if in addition to emails it would text my wireless handset LOL.

One quick question, I am only running one instance of SageTV (no Server or Client) and had turned on the (Setup > Detailed Setup > Server > SageTV Server = Enabled) thinking this was the server mentioned originally.

My Question is should I turn it back off or is it ok to leave on? (At this time I do not plan to get or use Placeshifter Server and I am still learning where all and what the Media Extender's purpose is)

FYI, most wireless providers have an email address for each phone that will convert any email sent to it into a TXT message and send it to your phone. For instance, on AT&T Wireless you can send an email to your10digitphonenumber@txt.att.net

This site has pretty good information for several carriers; be sure to scroll through the comments though as sometimes the article has fallen out of date. (See SMS Details By carrier) on the left.

I would check a few things:
1) Does it show up on the "Sage Recordings" page on the webserver?
2) If so, click the XML button on the page to make sure the XML feed is working
(There is a bug in the webserver that sometimes returns a null feed when certain conditions are met)
3) Check the SageTray settings to verify that it is configured to show recent recordings (Under Preferences - Popup Preferences, Show Recorded should be checked.)

Glad to hear it. What file was bad?

Email Problem - Recording conflicts

Can you change SageTray to only send email one time when there is a Recording conflict. The SageTrap app sent more than 500 emails to me
in a short period and Charter Communications disabled my email since they thought i was sending SPAM. A sigle email would be fine in this case. Can the email also have in the message body what the actual recording conflict is to make the email more useful? Thanks.

Hmmm. That's how it is supposed to work already ... I'll have to check into it. Sorry to hear about your email.
Update: Ok, I checked into it and found a logic error for the conflict email reporting. I'll do some testing and hopefully post an update later tonight or tomorrow.

Quick Question

In the configure menu, what are the two boxes next to the "Reg Error Poll" for? Could you explain how these settings are used? I have 15 and 4 set now. What does this mean? I know one of them (not sure which one) is the the time in seconds before polling the web server. What's the other setting for?
