Arrow STV: iSage

iSage is a re-design of the current Sage 6.1 theme. I liked (most) of the functionality but not the way it looked. Now I do.

Yes, I took Apple's Front Row and Apple TV as reference. I even used some of their icons. Should Apple have a problem with this expect a re-release.

In the meantime, I cleaned up the menus and graphics and while I am sure there are some bugs left, I think it's done "enough" for some massive public consumption.

I have plans on re-doing the music and video library views but at this point at least it's pretty to look at.

You can see screens and download iSage STV HERE.

Version 1.02
Mar. 31, 2007
- Fixed more display issues on the Mac (and PC?) placeshifters

Version 1.01
Mar. 10, 2007
- Fixed rendering issues on Mac and PC placeshifters
- Re-ordered menu

Version 1.0
Mar. 6, 2007
- Initial Release

Things to do
- Finish the entire new iSage icon set
- Tweak the OSD when watching TV/Video/DVD etc...
- Rework video & music library views

Cheers,

That is the master plan but at this time I don't have the time nor expertise with Sage Studio to guarantee that level of enhancement. However, the music and video libraries view still don't feel quite right to me so I definitely plan on further developing them.

Back to fiddling and learning Studio... that's the first step

I think doing an MC 'Theme' is just a case of dropping the correctly names images in a folder and making a config file. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I like it! I'm a big fan of the black backgrounds. Keep it up

Wow, the first STV that I think I could use that is not the default.

Thanks!

Is anyone else having problems with double fonts using this STV?

Running 6.1.4RC via placeshifter on mac and PC.

B

EDIT: The default STV uses double fonts too. white on black. This one looks to be using white on white. Maybe change to white on gray?

Yes, Placeshifter on the Mac has this problem. I am working today to fix it. I think it's an alpha problem... ie. the Mac Placeshifter doesn't support it so it drawing a text shadow at full color.

I am getting some really weird stretched diagonal folders behind my imported videos. Is this what it is supposed to look like? I would personally like it much better if the folder graphic was not even there.

Fixed for the most part... don't have enough time today to do it exactly the way I want but I'll find the time sometime soon.

Grab the new version and your should be good!

It's definitely not supposed to work like that... and can't say that it is on any of my test machines...

What version of Sage are you using? I am not 100% sure but I believe you will need one of the 6.1 RC's.

Cheers,

good start, keep at it and this should be a nice alternative to the default theme along with SageMC.

I notice its missing the Google and youtube links. Also the right arrow always brings back to the main menu in some areas, instead of the previous screen.

As for SageMC version, isn't that what the iTV theme is?

is the design ready for RTL

I love your design.
but, I live in Israel, and we do RTL (Right To Left here) for Hebrew.

Would it be possible for you to add a property to your widgets that will say RTL so that the aligment of text will be to the right?

RTL and BIDI are complicated subjects and there just isn't enough thought about it in sage.

Since this is a new UI design, I was thinking maybe you can add support for it now, and later it would be easy to maintain.

What do you think?

Never looked into it but let me. I'll see how easy (or hard) it is

Grate !!!

So just another pointer for BIDI (Bidirectional) configuration:

Mirroring - when viewed in LTR buttons start from the left->to the right.

when moving to a BIDI RTL Ui, that order is flipped so the whole screen is mirrored:

1,2,3 are buttons, and they are mirrored.
Thes should be the case with graphics and text areas (the position is mirrored.

Code:
---------------------------------------------------
- LTR - RTL -
- - -
- - -
- 1 2 3 - 3 2 1 -
---------------------------------------------------
I am NOT a gr8 artist

Travis,

While we're looking at feature requests.. Would you mind seeing if there is anything that can be done to maintain the menu structure if you bring in an stvi like dynamic menus?

Thanks and this STV looks awesome!
