MVP Playback of .ts files

In the latest beta it mentions playback of .ts files. Has anyone verified that the mvp's now will play back .ts files as well as .ps or mpg files? I tried about 6 months ago and it did not work. It would be great to know if this is now working.

Yes, it now works with RC4, but the results depend on the power of your system. This morning I could watch a 480i program with no problem. When I tried this with RC3 I had no sound. When I tried a 780p program I had studdering and went back to viewing with the client. I then discovered that you can convert the format. I did that with a 1080i program and it played fine with the MVP. The conversion took almost 2 hours for a 1 hour show, the transcoder program run a below normal priority which I liked.

If the .ts file is a Standard broad cast and not HiDef the Sage will not even transcode it now. I was watching a ts. files last night and the cpu was at 2% most of the time when watching it on the mvp. Now for Hidef, I have an AMD 3000+ it will run at about 85% cpu when watching a Hidef show transcoding to standard quality if I try high quality it pegs out at 100%. Thats when you need more horse power. I'm thinking of upgrading but the HiDef Extender will be out, I hope, in the next 2 to 4 months.

Thanks for both of your posts. Sounds like OK for SD, but but HD (as should probably be expected) sounds a bit difficult for the server. I too will probably wait for the HD externder. I wonder how many of the extenders they will sell when they come out. Should be very interesting.
