STV that filters recordings

Heres what I want to happen. Before I start on the customization road I wanted to see if anyone has seen this done already..

When I go to view sage recordings I have a list of everything that has been recorded and I can filter and group this list by a few things. What I want is to be able to filter by several things on a customized category basis.

Lets say I want to watch something. I don't want to see the kids recordings or my wife's recordings, but only those things that I want to watch that are not marked as watched.

Kids want to watch a show, I don't care if it is marked as watched, only that it is a kids recording.

Ideally I could spedify a custom category, potentially multiple per show, when I ask Sage to record it. If it is a show that both my wife and I watch I would give it two categories.

Then have a quick select when I want to look at recorded shows. My wife continually deletes her recordings just so she does not have to look through and decide what is next to watch. It should be able to automatically filter out watched shows and only show unwatched ones and let sage delete things automatically as it needs space.

Also to be able to set a delete priority for shows that will retain some watched shows longer than others. For example I don't ever want to watch Survivor again once I watched it but the kids always want to watch thier shows over and over. So when disk space is low delete the 10 survivor episodes but keep the cartoon even thought the cartoon is older.

Anything like this out there in a plugin?

Sounds like two separate plugins to me, since the delete priority thing really doesn't have much to do with the view filtering thing. As far as I know neither one exists as such (but you could have a look through the Downloads section just to be sure).

Yes it may be more than one, but they would work off of the same categorization theory. If I could personally categorize my recordings then it seems it would be pretty easy to customize filters for viewing recorded shows and delete priority. I have browsed the downloads and don't see anything that explicitly says it will fit my bill.
Where specifically can I look to find a customization guide for developers?

I wonder how hard it would be to add a custom field to a favorite and be able to filter by that in the Sage Recordings section.
For instance, after I add a favorite I go into the Favorite settings and then add my name to a custom field then on the Recordings screen I would be able to filter by all the custom names in that field so only those favorites with that name would show up?

I wish I had better programming skills...
