Stuttering Placeshifer Video
I have 6.1.6 RC5 installed on the server, and on the Placeshifter clients. I also have to MVP clients. The MVP clients work fine, but the video on the placeshifter clients stutters periodically. They are wireless clients, which I assumed was the problem while running 6.0.19. I direct connected the laptop Placeshifter client to the same switch as the SageTV Server, and had the same problem. So, I decided to go "bleeding edge" and see if the RC's had fixes for my issue. I have also tried changing video_buffer_size to 32000000 and 54000000 on the client without much change. I kind of assume that if my problems were on the SageTV server side, they would affect the MVP client as well as the Placeshifter Client. What else can I try to get smooth video via placeshifter (and make my wife happy, isn't it all about that!)

what's your CPU usage on the Placeshifter client when running PS? Have you tried disabling Video Post Processing?

CPU Usage
The CPU usage fluctuates between 5 and 30 percent. By disabling post processing, I was using the SageTV MPEG Video Decoder... I have also tried the NVIDEO Video Post Processor, which was bad. Using the NVIDEA Video Decoder is bad too.

Are you doing any transcoding? Can you reduce the quality of the recordings?

From the placeshifter client I use SageTV dynamic streaming system, which I assume does transcoding... From the server, I decreased the recording quality from Great to Good and we will see how that affects future recordings..... the quality of my cable feed isn't sufficient to justify great, maybe until I switch to satellite...

Reducing Recording Quality Doesn't Help
I reduced the recording quality from great to good with no appreciable affect on video quality. After all these changes though, it's probably time to compare wired to wireless again and see if the stuttering is still present on a wired connection.

These settings don't apply at all to the Placeshifter which means you're probably not using the default UI. I'd try the standard UI first.

Using Default UI
That explains why it didn't change anything then! I made those changes on the server. I am using the default UI. Not sure if I am going to change it anyway, but I am trying to keep it as simple as I can until everything is working the way it should. The MVP's work awesome, and the Placeshifter is watchable, but it hiccups every 10-30 seconds... I have once license for Client, and installed it, but it locks up the computer it's on, probably a software conflict with something already on that machine.
